Paintings by József Szász

Born in 1945, the former Hungarian ambassador has dedicated a significant portion of his spare time to painting and drawing since his youth. After his retirement he has decided to bring the creations of his artistic talents to the general public. In a recognition of his artistic talents and contributions, he has been given the title of Art Director by his local community in Nagykoru, Hungary.

His début as an artist was as a participant in a group exhibition in Skopje, Macedonia which took place 15 years ago and it was a great success. Several joint exhibitions with famous international artists followed. His first solo exhibition was held in Balatonkenese, Hungary in 2005, followed by others in Budapest (2006, 2007 and 2008), Torokszentmiklos (2008), Szolnok (2008, 2009 and 2011), Nagykoru (2008 and 2009) and Turkeve (2011). As one critic said, "In the works of Jozsef Szasz, the clarity of the image is as apparent as are the strong and clean colors and soft brushstrokes that reflect the landscape and other subjects that inspire the artist, with great fidelity." The artist does not mind if the viewer senses the influence of more than one style in his work, he feels that this level of variety presents a continuing challenge to him and allows the art enthusiast to approach his work from multiple angles. The artist aims to present 'pleasant images' to his audience that touch the viewer but do not incite extreme emotion, and hopes that his creations will be met with appreciation by the public.

To underline József's success, many of his pieces are now parts of private collections in Europe and North America.
